How To Fake Like You’ve Read Dostoevsky
If you’re trying to present yourself as someone who is a brooding intellectual, let’s do a quick review of Fyodor Dostoevsky.
1. Knowing Dostoevsky’s first name is not important. Knowing how to pronounce his name is important. Say it like this: DOS [like the...

– T. S. Eliot - Burnt Norton
It’s the beginning of a new year, a new decade. It is the time to reflect on how time passes us by so relentlessly, and how fickle life can be. T.S. Eliot reminds us to live the present. Don’t waste anymore time. Make it count.
It’s the first day of a new decade
What are you doing differently form the last ten years? What are your hopes and dreams for the years to come?

It is always good to establish useful ground rules such as “piss priority.” That way there’s no confusion of who has the first rights to the throne.

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, 2000
David Motherfucking Sedaris. You didn’t think I’d forget about him did you? Come on. This book is half tales of Sedaris’s family and neighbors and friends and the other half, his adventures with his partner, Hugh, when they move to France. I love the way Sedaris writes, so naturally and with such...
Pioneers! O Pioneers!
Levi’s Go Forth campaign has struck a chord with me. A call to action, a call to go west. Mobilization of a generation. It’s a visceral experience. The original poem was intended to invoke an urgency among the youth to head west and to tame the native land. Venturing into the unknown, baring arms, the youthful sinewy race tames the wilderness and made America what it is today.

David Sedaris, speak to me.
Is it weird that your inner thoughts narrate the event of the day in David Sedaris’s voice? It’s keeping me from sleep. Kinda entertaining though. I really should write it down next time.
